Women's Conference 2025: Complete Conference Brand & Experience
Designed a complete brand system and conference experience for Calvary Chapel's annual women's conference, serving 250 attendees. Created strategic conference theme avoiding typical feminine clichés, then executed across every touchpoint—social media strategy, media kit, landing page, print collateral, conference apparel, and hand-painted stage installation. Troubleshot budget-friendly solutions and practical constraints while maintaining design quality. Volunteer passion project demonstrating creative range beyond digital product design.
Project: CCPH Women's Conference 2025
Role: Brand & Experience Designer (volunteer)
Theme: "Anchored in Hope"
Reach: 250 attendees
Deliverables: Complete brand system, digital strategy, marketing materials, apparel, 10x8' hand-painted tapestry
The Challenge
Conference organizers provided initial concepts featuring anchors adorned with flowers—expected and stereotypical for women's conferences. Needed a distinctive brand identity that honored the nautical theme while appealing to all ages, worked across digital and physical applications, and created a memorable conference experience differentiating from previous years.
Practical Constraints:
Budget limitations required cost-effective solutions
Stage installation needed to be portable and transportable to the venue
Design system needed to work across multiple production methods (digital, print, fabric, hand-painted)
Strategic Approach
Avoiding the Expected
Rather than traditional feminine florals, drew inspiration from vintage linocut nautical prints—an unexpected aesthetic giving the design historical authenticity while maintaining modern appeal. Hand-drawn waves using a digital linocut brush technique, paired with historical typography, create a sophisticated nautical feel without cliché.
Color Strategy
Choose a light teal, dark teal, and coral palette, making the design feminine without stereotypical pinks. Color combination felt fresh and modern while remaining accessible to all age groups attending the conference.
What I Built
Digital Strategy & Marketing
Social media campaign plan coordinating pre-event promotion
Conference landing page with registration
Media kit for church communications team
Digital graphics for email and social promotion
Print & Physical Collateral
Conference presentation materials
Bookmarks (takeaway gifts)
Name tags maintain brand consistency
Tote bags (conference swag)
Conference t-shirts for attendees
Hand-Painted Tapestry Installation
Hand-drawn original illustration using a digital linocut brush technique, then translated the design into a massive 10x8-foot hand-painted tapestry serving as a conference stage backdrop. Troubleshot practical constraints: designed a tapestry that rolls up for transport to the venue, keeping costs down by hand-painting rather than using professional printing. Labor-intensive creative work—painting 80 square feet of fabric by hand—completed alongside a full-time pharma job.
Complete Brand System
Ensured visual consistency across every conference touchpoint—from initial social media posts to t-shirts, printed materials, and final stage installation. Attendees experienced a cohesive brand regardless of where they encountered conference materials.
Impact
Attendee Response
250 women attended the conference. Overwhelming positive response to design—every attendee wanted photos with the tapestry. Design became an integral part of the conference experience rather than a background element.
Church Satisfaction
Conference organizers loved the final execution. Design successfully differentiated from previous years while maintaining accessibility for diverse age group.
