See The PATTRNS UK:
Localizing a Global Healthcare Platform

Led the strategic redesign of See The PATTRNS for the UK market, transforming a fragmented global platform into a localized healthcare experience. Faced with missing design files, inconsistent systems, and UK-specific regulatory requirements, I rebuilt the entire design foundation while collaborating across UK cross-functional teams to deliver a scalable, compliant product.

Focus: Healthcare platform localization, design systems, cross-market strategy
Role: Senior UX designer
Software: Figma, Illustrator, Adobe XD

The Challenge

See The PATTERNs needed a UK-specific presence to serve local healthcare audiences with region-appropriate content, compliance requirements, and brand positioning. The existing global platform couldn't be simply adapted - technical debt and fragmented design files meant starting fresh.

Key Constraints:

  • Missing or incomplete design files from the original Adobe XD build

  • No existing design system or component library

  • Need to maintain global brand alignment while meeting UK market needs

  • Tight timeline with cross-functional UK teams waiting on design foundation

Approach

Strategic Foundation Partnered with UK stakeholders to define what differentiated the UK experience from global - identifying content structure, regulatory needs, and audience expectations that required localization beyond simple translation.

System Rebuild Established Figma-based design system from scratch:

  • Defined typography hierarchy optimized for healthcare content readability

  • Created modular component library enabling rapid iteration

  • Built design tokens and documentation for UK dev team handoff

Cross-Functional Collaboration Aligned UK content, development, brand, and compliance teams throughout - ensuring design decisions supported both user needs and business requirements.

Impact

For Users:

  • Localized healthcare content with UK-appropriate information architecture

  • Improved readability through refined typography and visual hierarchy

For Business:

  • Scalable design system enabling faster UK feature development

  • Reduced design-to-development friction through Figma workflow

  • Foundation supporting future UK market expansion

For Team:

  • Unified design language across UK touchpoints

  • Reusable components accelerating cross-team collaboration

  • Documentation enabling design system adoption

Due to NDA, detailed design process and internal files cannot be shared. Final product demonstrates strategic localization and system-level thinking.
